COME ENJOY THE INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND NEWLY OPENED AT CROOKED CREEK PARK

As you drive up, your jaw will drop.  The newly constructed inclusive playground is impressive.  At more than 6,000 square feet, it is the only one of its kind in Union County.  The accessible ramps and play panels are specifically created for youth of all ages and needs.  Ease your fears as you watch your child maneuver on the poured rubber surface that provides easy mobility for wheelchairs.  Let them enjoy the unique design as they work their way across the playground and enjoy different learning experiences.  Included in the playground is a braille panel, a sprocket panel, a touch and play piano, touch and play drums, and a paddle ball panel.  Panels help develop fine motor skills and dexterity, encourage imaginative play, help sensory and cognitive development; all while encouraging social interaction among children and helping provide tactile and visual sensory input.  The playground also includes a fully accessible teeter totter, a rock climbing tunnel, a spinning element, swings and multiple slides.  Fun for all!!

David Drehs, President of the Miracle League of Indian Trail, and NC Rep. Dean Arp were key in helping the Town of Indian Trail to be awarded grant funds from the North Carolina Connect Bond to build this spectacular playground for children with various needs.  As the development of Crooked Creek Parkand its baseball fields continues, the Miracle League is working hard to include an adult-size, accessible baseball field so children and adults with special needs will have the same opportunity to play baseball.  The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime.  Since the main barrier for these children comes from the natural grass fields used in conventional youth leagues, Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices while helping to prevent injuries.  While there is a lot of heart, it realistically takes a lot of money too…

Donations and Sponsorships will help achieve our goal and their dreams!
